Ilizarov limb lengthening technique
Limb lengthening procedures using the Ilizarov Technique are performed in cases of severe malformations or large differences in limb length due to birth defects or trauma. These include the treatment of pseudoarthrosis, achondroplasia as well as disorders caused by infection or bone loss.
This particular method can reduce the amount of time spent in hospital and prevent the need for repeated surgeries under general anaesthesia.
Over more than 30 years, GVM's specialists have gained great expertise, operating on patients from only under 1 year old to over 80, and have helped make the Group a benchmark for this type of surgery.
After surgery, patients are followed by a physiotherapist to facilitate a rapid functional recovery.
